A cuppa for cancer

Staff, family and residents of Denman Multi Purpose Service have raised in excess of $400 for the NSW Cancer Council, following last month’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.

Denman Health Service Manager Margaret Smith said the “Cuppa for Cancer” morning tea was an enjoyable way to raise money for a worthy cause.

“It was a beautiful, sunny day, with around seventy people congregating on the Residential Aged Care verandas for our Cuppa for Cancer event,” Mrs Smith said.

“A sumptuous morning tea was provided by Multi Purpose Service staff and families of the residents. Country home-style cooking just can’t be beaten, with a fabulous array of scones, cakes, slices and sandwiches on offer.

“Norma Fowler entertained the guests with a sing-a-long in her inimitable style; she can always be counted on to keep spirits high,” Mrs Smith said.

The morning raised $439.40, which has since been donated to the NSW Cancer Council.

“We would like to extend a big thank you to all the people who donated time, food, money and good will.  After such a great morning, be sure to watch the calendar the same time next year,” Mrs Smith said.
